Probably the biggest change that you'd have make is changing the puzzles into obstacle courses. That's the thing with video game adaptations, you can use a lot of the scrapped characters cut for budget and time and put them in the movie. I also think it'd be neat if they added the Party Escort Bot as a minor antagonist that chases Chell when she escapes the testing area only to be seemingly destroyed but comes back in the end to drag her back to the facility for the sequel. You could MAYBE add Doug Rattman as an additional side character, but I think it'd be an interesting movie if Chell and GLaDOS were the only two characters like in the original. I think you could still have Chell as the protagonist and it'd still work. Yeah, I don't think he'd be able to make a Portal movie without making it drastically different and adding a bunch of superficial characters, which honestly, it doesn't have to be.
